Affiliate Marketing
A few years back, I turned from being a full time / salaried Project Manager to a Consulting Project Manager. I heard from my colleagues about the benefits and wanted to give it a shot.
I worked through several key consulting firms and was paid hourly for my work. The upside was the high rate/hour I was making, however, the downside was the lack of benefits which could be managed through the money I was making.
I was doing very well to start, jobs were good, the pay was good and I was putting in some long hours, and making some great money.
Then, the market turned on a dime, companies started to disband their consultants and rely on their salaried employees and I recall the day, I went from being a full-time consultant to unemployed.
I was recently divorced, and even with Joint Custody of my children, still had alimony and child support bills to pay.
I vividly recall the day my consulting company called me at 7:00 pm on a Friday and informed me that the company I was consulting for, were downsizing their consultants and I along with many others, was informed our services were no longer required.
It was like being in the hot sun all day and getting splashed with a large bucket of ice water.
…bam…
I recall just sitting on my bedroom floor, my back against the bed as I stared at the wall ahead of me, I shock. The one emotion I recall was fear, extreme fear as many questions raced through my head. “what happens if I can’t pay my credit cards, or my car loan, or my mortgage, or Alimony and child support…”
I had a lot of credit card debt back then, which only compounded my issues, and the next six months, I struggled to find a steady job and it was one of the worse periods of my life.
The feeling that I could not provide for my family and loved ones, never knowing how I was going to pay for food, or gas for my car. The depression was like a 100-pound beast, sitting on my chest all day, making it difficult to breathe.
Through the grace of God and hard work, I was able to get back on my feet but that experience, to this day, is a key reason I wanted to start my OWN online business. Something I own and control vs working for others.
I took the first few years to get my debt in order, and at the end of last year (October 2020) I started my online journey.
Affiliate Marketing
I became immediately attracted to high ticket affiliate marketing, which is marketing other people’s products and earning a commission.
Through doing this, my plan is to learn where my strengths are, and really focus on helping others who want to follow the same path and share this same adventure.
I like Affiliate Marketing because it’s very low upstart costs, I get to sell someone else’s product, I focus on bringing in the people, and they manage the rest! It’s such a great way to start a business!
